The Big Return
After years of waiting, Spotify is officially back inside professional DJ software. As of September 24, 2025, Spotify Premium subscribers can stream directly into three major platforms: Serato DJ Lite/Pro, Rekordbox, and Algoriddim djay.
This long-requested update means DJs can finally tap into their playlists, liked songs, and the full Spotify catalog without leaving their software — a huge step forward for flexibility, practice, and performance.
Which DJ Softwares Work with Spotify
Here’s the current lineup of apps that support Spotify streaming:
Serato DJ Lite & Pro – Full integration with Spotify Premium. Your playlists and liked songs appear directly in Serato. You can stream across up to 4 decks, but there’s no stems, no offline caching, and playlists must be managed inside Spotify.
Rekordbox – Spotify is now one of Rekordbox’s official streaming partners. You can mix your Spotify library alongside your local tracks. Just note: offline caching isn’t supported and stems don’t work with Spotify tracks.
Algoriddim djay (macOS & Windows) – Spotify integration has returned to djay, letting you pull in your Spotify playlists with a simple login. Like the others, streaming requires Premium and a reliable internet connection.
Not supported (yet): VirtualDJ, Traktor, and Engine DJ currently do not offer Spotify integration.
What You Can Do
Search and stream millions of Spotify tracks directly in your DJ software.
Load Spotify tracks alongside local files for hybrid sets.
Use your existing Spotify playlists as crates.
Access Spotify’s editorial and algorithmic playlists for fresh inspiration.
What You Can’t Do
Even with integration, there are limitations:
Spotify Premium only – no free accounts.
No offline caching – you must stream live with stable internet.
No stems or advanced processing – vocal/instrument separation won’t work with Spotify tracks.
Playlist management – must be done in the Spotify app, not your DJ software.
Personal use restrictions – playback is intended for non-commercial/personal use.
How to Get Started
Update your software to the latest version (Serato 3.3.5+, latest Rekordbox, or djay for Mac/PC).
In settings, enable Spotify streaming under Library/Streaming.
Log in with your Spotify Premium account.
Start searching, loading, and mixing Spotify tracks — but always keep a crate of local files as backup.
Why It Matters for DJs
Aspiring DJs – No need to buy a separate library; start mixing with the playlists you already use daily.
Mobile & house-party DJs – Run a set anywhere with just your laptop and WiFi.
Club professionals – Great for testing new tracks or handling requests, but local, licensed files are still essential for reliability and compliance.
Final Thoughts
Spotify’s return to DJ software is a milestone. With Serato, Rekordbox, and djay now supporting streaming, DJs gain instant access to the world’s most popular music platform inside the tools they already trust.
It’s not a total replacement for owning music — stems, offline use, and commercial licensing are still limitations — but it’s a powerful new tool to expand creativity and lower the barriers to mixing.
